JUBA – South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) Commander who SPLA-IO had claimed to have killed is saying that he is alive and has not been to Moroto training centre where fighting between SPLA-IO and SSPDF took place last week.

Last week, SPLA-IO spokesman, Brigadier General William Gatjiath Deng claimed in a statement that the main armed opposition group had killed Colonel Gatgueng Biphal during SSPDF attack on Moroto training Centre in Central Equatoria state last week.

“I heard today that they went on radio to state that I have been killed. There is nothing like that, it is a lie. I even heard this thing about 3 days ago, but I’m here in Wangkeay in Mayom County of Unity state,” Colonel Gatgueng told Juba-based Eye Radio over the weekend.

“I would like to inform South Sudanese that these are just rumours…and should be treated as tea-talk,” he said.
