JUBA — Sudanese opposition politician and deputy chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-North) Yasir Arman has been arrested by the Sudanese security agencies, according to a statement posted on his Twitter account.

This comes after Sudanese army officers believed to be acting on orders of the president of Transitional Sovereign Council Andelfattah Al Burhan arrested several senior government officials including Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

It remains unclear where Arman is being held, but sources told Sudans Post that he was being held separately away from Mr. Hamdok.
