KHARTOUM – Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan acknowledges the existence of security and intelligence cooperation with Israel.

Military and security delegations from the two countries exchange regular visits particularly after the coup d’etat of October 25.

Also, Israeli tear gas and Skunk water are used by the security forces to disperse protesters.

In a TV interview on Saturday night, al-Burhan said that the two countries have established security cooperation.

“We don’t have secrecy about this. But no senior Israeli political official visited Sudan to announce it. All the delegations were from the security services to exchange information,” he said.

The exchanged information enabled the arrest of terrorist groups that would have threatened security in Sudan and the region, he stressed.

On February 9, Reuters reported that a Sudanese presidential envoy was in Israel, but further details about the purpose of the visit were released.

Al-Burhan met with the former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the first time in Entebbe, Uganda, on February 3, 2020.

On January 6, 2021, the two countries signed the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords advancing more the bilateral relations between the two countries.
