Sudan’s al-Burhan in Juba for talks on bilateral ties

According to a statement by President Kiir's office, Burhan met with Kiir at the statehouse J1 and discussed several issues regarding the relations between Khartoum and Juba.

JUBA – The leader of Sudan’s Transitional Military Council General Abdel Fattah al Burhan arrived in South Sudan’s capital Juba on Wednesday for a one-day state visit aimed at discussing the two counties’ bilateral relations with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

According to a statement by President Kiir’s office, Burhan met with Kiir at the statehouse J1 and discussed several issues regarding the relations between Khartoum and Juba.

“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit this evening in Juba, has received H.E. Abdel Fattah al Buhran, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council for a one day working visit,” the presidency said in the statement seen by Sudans Post.

“The two leaders held a meeting at the official residence of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the two Countries- South Sudan and Sudan, as well as regional matters,” the statement added.

It further said that “in addition, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his guest discussed ways of strengthening the bilateral relations between the two Countries, as well as the progress of the peace process of Sudan.”
