Telar Ring tells Sudans Post he is hospitalized for coronavirus

JUBA – Senior South Sudan main armed opposition politician and former Juba ambassador to Russian Federation, Telar Ring Deng, has said in a statement to Sudans Post that he has been hospitalized for the novel coronavirus.

“On 24th December 2020, I tested positive for COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at Aspen Medical Centre after a short period of illness. I was immediately transferred to the IDU and currently stable,” the senior opposition official said.

“As we head into the festive season, we should be vigilant and remember that COVID-19 still exists. Lets continue wearing our masks, maintaining social distance and washing our hands or sanitizing,” he further added in the statement.

Telar is the latest senior South Sudan politician to test positive for the deadly virus.

First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny in May tested position for coronavirus along his wife and defense minister Angelina Teny.

Information minister Michael Makuei Lueth also tested positive for the virus as well as senior government and opposition official.
