JUBA – South Sudan parties on Sunday agreed to the allocation of unified command positions in the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), South Sudan National Security Service (NSS) and South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) days after tensions heightened with SPLA-IO being given senior top positions in the security selector.
The deal negotiated by President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his first deputy Dr. Riek Machar Teny who is also the chairman of the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) was signed by representatives of the two men in present of Sudanese negotiator General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
Speaking to Sudans Post last evening following the agreement, Puok Both Baluang, SPLM-IO Director of Information and Public Relations and acting press secretary in the office of the first vice president said the main armed opposition was given, in the army, the positions of deputy chief of defense forces, Inspector General of SSPDF, Assistant Chief of Defense Forces for Logistics and Procurement, and Assistant Chief of Defense Forces for Morale Orientation.
In the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS), Baluang said the SPLA-IO was given deputy inspector general of police, director general for traffic police, director general for training, director general for social services and director general for medical corp.
Last, he said that the SPLA-IO was given, in the national security services, the deputy director general for internal security bureau and deputy director general for external security bureau.
