JUBA – Envoy of the Troika countries (United Kingdom, United States, and Norway) have arrived in the South Sudan’s capital Juba to access the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement signed by the parties to the incumbent unity government in 2018, according to a senior British diplomat.

The Troika countries are the major donors to South Sudan and sponsored the 2018 peace agreement.

In a tweet on Monday, United Kingdom ambassador to South Sudan Christ Trott said that Robert Fairweather, the British special envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, his Norwegian and American counterparts, were visiting the world’s youngest country to urge for “progress” in the peace implementation.

“Looking forward to welcoming @RobertF40396660 back to Juba today. Alongside his [Norwegian] and American counterparts. Troika Envoys coming to urge faster progress in implementation of the R-ARCSS,” Trott wrote on Twitter.

Sudans Post has learned that the envoys have arrived in Juba and have travelled to Yei River county where continued fighting between South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) and National Salvation Front (NAS) has continued.
