BENTIU – A dominoes game in Panyijiar County, Unity State, took a tragic turn on December 25th, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man and the arrest of two suspects.
John Malith, Unity State police spokesperson, confirmed to Sudans Post the incident and the detention of the two individuals.
“The one who initiated the fight died on the spot during the clash,” he stated, adding that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face legal charges.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but Malith described the perpetrators as “armed youth with no disputes.”
He attributed the violence to a misunderstanding that escalated into a deadly confrontation.
“They misunderstood each other and decided to pick up arms and start shooting,” Malith explained.
He further noted that 11 others were injured in the clash and that the authorities are determined to bring all those involved to justice.
“These two guys will not be released until the case is solved,” Malith asserted. “We are going to identify those responsible for the killing and those who injured the other 11 people.”
Search efforts are underway in the villages of the suspected perpetrators.
