JUBA – At least 2 people were killed and 3 others injured by unknown assailant on Thursday in South Sudan’s Warrap State, according to police.

The incident occurred at 3:00 PM on Thursday in Manyang payam, Wun-tiit village in Gogrial East.

The Acting Police Inspector of Gogrial East County, Lt. Agoth Thiik Giir told Sudans Post on Friday that the intruder approached the family at Dawn while they were still asleep, unlocked the doors of the tukuls, and fired at those who were on beds killing two instantly.

“The serial killers just killed two people including student who completed his primary eight identified as Bol Bol Deng, 21, and Aluat Manut Yel, 16, and injured Nyanut Yel Manut, 33, Awut Ajuong Bol, aged 6 and Deng Ajuong Bol, 5,” Thiik said.

Thiik added the assailant fled the scene after perpetrating atrocities leaving residents in astonished.

“It is assumed that the assailants had a motive against the family as they attacked people while they were sleeping in two separate tukuls and they opened them and shot them and fled,” he said.

According to police inspector, investigations are still being conducted to determine the motive behind the murder.

He said those who were seriously hurt were sent to Luon-Aker Hospital and are currently receiving treatment.

The policeman went on to say that these shooting incidents are common in the state and that they are the result of retaliatory killings brought on by marital and communal issues.
