JUBA – South Sudan’s vice-president James Wani Igga has on Thursday visited Pibor Administrative Area on reconciliation mission, according to a statement by the ministry of information.

In late June, President Kiir formed a committee headed by Igga to reconcile Jonglei tribes who have been fighting each other over cattle raiding a child kidnapping.

“Vice President of the Republic Dr. James Wani Igga who is also the Chairperson of the high level committee to address the conflict in Jonglei State and Pibor administrative area paid a visit to the Pipor administrative area on Thursday,” the statement said.

“Vice president was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of ICT&PS Baba Medan Konyi, Dr. Wani Igga assured government readiness to end the conflict and restore peace and stability in the greater Jonglei areas,” it added.

It further said the “Vice president and the accompanied delegation walked in the water as flood has devastated the area.”
