JUBA – South Sudan vice-president Taban Deng Gai has been ridiculed by social media users after he visited Unity state’s paramount chief, Tungwar Kueiguong Raet, who has been described by some social media activist as ‘magician’.

This week, social media users have been circulating a photo showing vice-president Taban being blessed by Kueiguong, an influential figure in Unity state, at an unidentified compound in the capital Juba.

Some social media users went on to mock the controversial vice-president for what they said are efforts to cement his hopes for becoming president of the world’s youngest country terming the traditional leader a magician.

“So visiting magician is the latest way to cement hope and greed for presidential position in South Sudan?” one social media user wrote. “Wonders shall never cease in my homeland, the ‘Republic of South Sudan’.”

Juba TV, a reality entertainment website based abroad initially described Kueiguong as magician, but later on moderated its comments to look: “The guy is cementing his grip for Presidency.”

Another user wrote: “Who else can be left out from the blessing of Gatkueyguong if VP Gen. Taban has taken his share of water?”
