KUAJOK – The government of South Sudan’s restive Warrap State has accused armed youths from the neighboring Abyei Special Administrative Area (ASAA) of carrying out attacks and killings along the Malual Aleu road.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post on Wednesday, Warrap information minister William Wol Mayom said armed youth from Abyei known as Titbaai have continued to attack their southern neighbor and continue to ambush civilians.

“Titbaai armed youth from Abyei have not stopped their hostilities on the road,” Mayom said in a statement on Wednesday. “They lay ambushes and target innocent Warrap State civilians, especially farmers and passengers.”

Mayom claimed the Titbaai youth were responsible for the killings of seven people in Manyang Anyiel village, Warrap State, on June 23, 2024.

He further stated that seven civilians from the Awan and Aguok communities of Gogrial West County were also killed by the Abyei youths.

Mayom also criticized the Abyei Administrative Area authorities for allegedly shielding their youth from blame.

Attempts to reach Bolis Koch, the Information Minister for Abyei, for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.

The Twic Mayardit community of Warrap State has a history of violent clashes with the Ngok Dinka of Abyei over land in the Aneet area.

These intermittent conflicts have resulted in hundreds of deaths and property destruction.
