KUAJOK – The Governor of Warrap State, General Kuol Muor Muor, has formed a five-member committee to probe the allegation of the killing of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei Special Administrative Area, Gen. Noon Deng Nyok by armed youth from the Twic community.

On 31st December 2023, Late Gen. Deng along with five others including two of his bodyguards were ambushed and killed by suspected armed youth while on the way to Agok to attend the New Year Prayers at Jouljok Parish.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, William Wol Mayom, Warrap State information minister said the committee headed by Makur Dhuol Ajook will probe the allegation labelled against Twic youth.

“The governor has formed a five-member committee to investigate the allegation labelled against Gelweng of Twic County that they have assassinated the deputy chief administrator, Hon. Noon Deng Nyok,” he said.

“Therefore, we have to investigate as Warrap State government and then those findings will be made public in one week time because we are also concern about the death of deputy chief administrator,” Wol added.

The senior state government official said the committee shall report the fact-finding and recommendations within one week to the office of the Governor of Warrap.

“They are starting their work this coming Monday and they will report back the other Monday, it is just a one-week committee,” he said.

“They will only carry their investigations within the jurisdiction of Warrap State, particularly Twic County because the allegation being labelled against Gelweng youth by Abyei Special Administrative Area has to be investigated and verified by the committee,” he added.
