According to Warrap State Information Minister, Mamer Baath Marol, the attacks happened around 2:00 PM in two different locations.
Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, Baath said the first incident occurred at Adaang near Ngap-Agok Payam in Tonj East County. A vehicle travelling from Tonj South County to Rom-mic was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of three people and the injury of a young girl.
The minister said the same group of assailants is believed to have waylaid another vehicle heading toward Ngap-Agok, killing one person.
“The government of Warrap State has learnt with dismay and sadness about the killing of four innocent civilians by armed assailants at Ngap-Agok Payam in Tonj East County on November 25, 2025, at around 2:00 PM,” Baath said.
“These were two separate attacks—one on a vehicle heading to Rom-mic from Tonj South, where three people died instantly, and another on a vehicle traveling from Rom-mic toward Tonj South, where one girl was injured and one person killed. The state government strongly condemns the incident, and investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Baath acknowledged that despite ongoing disarmament efforts, such attacks continue to occur, though he described them as isolated.
“Such individuals act out of cowardice and engage in unscrupulous revenge killings. Attacking innocent people on the road is unacceptable. We are tracking down these criminals, and they will face the law,” he warned.
The recurring attacks highlight persistent communal tensions in Greater Warrap and expose what analysts describe as the government’s struggle to resolve deep-rooted local conflicts.
Analysts are urging the harmonization of local security forces and renewed grassroots reconciliation initiatives—particularly among traditional chiefdoms. They argue that local leaders must intensify peace messaging to young armed men who frequently patrol cattle camps in remote and swampy areas while heavily armed.
