This comes after the government announced that it is developing a peace roadmap that would guide the country in the implementation process of remaining tasks of the revitalized peace agreement, but which would delay elections for a number of years.
Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, Both Yich Yat, the SPLM-IO (Reformist) National Secretary for Political Mobilization, Public Orientation, Documentation & Press, said they have been watched the implementation of the peace agreement, but will have no choice that to fight Kiir and Machar whom he described as Kiir’s brother.
“The SPLM-IO has been in war with the genocidal regime in Juba since December 15th 2013, and up to now there’s no peace in South Sudan,” he said from the Egyptian capital Cairo.
“Therefore and particularly after the two failed leaders, Kiir and Riek, have brought nothing with the R-ARCSS, rather than increasing the level of insecurity, inequality and displacement of thousands of innocent South Sudanese on daily basis, we’re not going to sit and watch the suffering of our people, instead; we will continue fighting for Justice, equality, democracy, unity & genuine peace to all citizens of this great land,” he added.
Both who is also the spokesman of the Reformist faction further said that the group’s “fight as the Reformists is against the enemy of the people, the brutal regime led by Salva Kiir and his brother Riek Machar. We are for accountability of the war criminals, and compensation of the victims of atrocities committed by the government.”
