Applying for an EB-1 Green Card can be a difficult and lengthy process. But with the right knowledge, it's possible to navigate through! First of all, you'll need to determine if you qualify. To do this, you must have either extraordinary ability, outstanding achievements, or be an internationally recognized leader in your field.
If so, then you're ready to start your application! You'll need to fill out Form I-140 — otherwise known as the Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker. Additionally, submit any documents that support your claim of eligibility such as transcripts or awards. Once complete, file the form and pay the appropriate fees at a USCIS office near you.
Afterwards wait for USCIS to review your petition and make a decision on whether they approve or deny it. If approved, congrats! You can now move onto the next step which is getting an immigrant visa number from the Department of State’s Visa Bulletin. Generally speaking, these visas are available based on when your priority date was established — usually when USCIS receives your application.
Finally once you receive approval and have a visa number available, then it’s time to apply for admission into the U.S., also known as adjustment of status (Form I-485). This includes submitting more paperwork plus paying another fee before finally receiving an EB-1 Green Card!
Overall applying for an EB-1 Green Card may seem like a daunting task but with patience and careful attention to detail it's definitely achievable! Good luck!
