Filming, privacy and safeguarding
Key idea: Pungra classes are sometimes filmed so the techniques can be shared. People have a right to know and to say no.
Filming
- Tell participants before you film, and say what the footage will be used for.
- Only include people who have agreed. Offer a spot out of shot for anyone who prefers it.
- Do not film children without the agreement of a parent or carer.
- Stop filming if someone asks you to.
Privacy
Health information, names and contact details belong to the participant. Share them only with people who need them, and do not leave them where others can see.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding means protecting people, especially children and adults who may be at risk, from harm.
- Know your venue's safeguarding policy and who the safeguarding lead is.
- If you may work with under-18s or adults at risk, make sure the right checks are in place first.
- Take any concern seriously, write down what you saw or heard, and pass it to the safeguarding lead. Do not investigate it yourself.
Your Pungra tutor will confirm the exact requirements for your area.
