Architecture Scope

The scope of the Regional ITS Architecture can be described in terms of: 1) the size of the region and jurisdictions covered (geographic scope), 2) the planning or time horizon, and 3) the variety of transportation services that are covered. This scope is defined in the context of adjacent and overlapping Regional ITS Architectures.

Description

The Wichita Area Regional ITS Architecture is comprised of the core ITS architecture stakeholders, inventory elements, and transportation services for the region. The regional architecture provides a blueprint of how transportation systems within the region will be identified and interconnected.

Time Frame: 2025–2030

Geographic Scope

The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Area (WAMPO) includes the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County, a portion of the City of Sedgwick, City of Andover in Butler County, and the City of Mulvane in Sumner County.

Service Scope

Incident Management, efficient operation of the area's freeways, turnpike and arterial roads, reliable information to the traveler, transit management, safety information like amber alerts.
