Empirical process control - this principle emphasizes the core philosophy of scrum based on the three main ideas of transparency, inspection, and adaptation.
Empirical process control aids learning through experimentation, especially when the problem is not well defined or when there are no clear solutions. More
self-organization - this principle focuses on today’s workers, who deliver significantly greater value when self-organized, and this results in better
team
buy-in and shared ownership; and an innovative and creative environment which is more conducive for growth. More
collaboration - this principle focuses on the three core dimensions related to collaborative work: awareness, articulation, and appropriation.
Originally, the scrum guide was based on the three pillars of scrum. Those three pillars are- transparency, inspection, and adaptation. These pillars were ensuring the team to work collaboratively, adapt to the changes and respect each other’s decisions during work. Scrum isn't a strategy. It is a non-repeatable kind of process. Scrum is a framework of standards, roles, and practices. The framework enables individuals and organizations to find out what works best for them. The scrum processes are specific and stick to the time and context. Along with the processes of scrum, there come the core scrum values upon which the scrum framework is based.
Based on a set of precisely defined practices and roles that shape the software development process, the scrum methodology is a flexible one that revolves around the application of the 12 agile principles, including simplicity, sustainability and attention to detail. The application of the agile principles must be agreed upon by all the team members in the scrum methodology. Generally, the execution of scrum takes place in temporary blocks that are short but regular. These blocks, called sprints, typically range from two to four weeks and involve feedback and reflection. Each sprint in scrum is an entity in itself, as it provides a complete result that simulates a variation of the final product that’s required to be delivered.
Scrum principles are the foundation on which the scrum framework is based. The principles of scrum can be applied to any type of project or organization, and they must be adhered to in order to ensure appropriate application of scrum. The aspects and processes of scrum can be modified to meet the requirements of the project, or the organization using it, but scrum principles are non-negotiable and must be applied as described in the framework presented in a guide to the scrum body of knowledge the sbok™ guide. Keeping the principles intact and using them appropriately instills confidence in the scrum framework with regard to attaining the objectives of the project.
Scrum wants to avoid that towards the end of the project, the promised delivery date is met with the help of overtime.
The solution proposed by scrum is simple: the deadline is kept and the delivered scope of functions is reduced if necessary. However, this solution is not possible in all cases, especially since a certain date is a necessary functionality to deliver. Overtime often results from unpredictable disruptions or miscalculations of effort. Experienced managers therefore plan with buffers and not overtime.
Our communication and our actions are transparent, both within boldare and with our clients and stakeholders. For some years now, we have worked as a holacracy. A holacratic system is decentralized, with decision-making distributed throughout the organizational structure. This has led us away from traditional manager roles. We find they often act as gatekeepers of information, preventing (deliberately or not) access by other team members to what they need to know. Our experience is that people work better (and the results are better) when there are no project managers in the traditional sense. We’ve found that this kind of openness across the organization also makes it easier for people to work remotely (which is very helpful given the global events of the last year or two).
