What's New in 5.0.11

Newest first — the latest build introduces the Palate Portrait, a personalization gauge that gets to know your taste, on top of full account sign-in (with password recovery), wine curation, a clean-slate reset, and a genuinely fresh reinstall from the Public Beta's legal & safety hardening and account system.

• Meet your Palate Portrait — a glowing arc gauge on the welcome screen that fills in and warms from wine-red to gold as the app gets to know your taste. It rises as you set up your profile, add wines you love, and rate what you drink — and it only ever climbs, from “Getting started” up to “Dialed in.” It's computed right on your device — nothing new leaves your phone.
• Sign back in to your account — Settings → Sign in recovers an existing account after a reset or reinstall. Includes Forgot password? (we email a reset link — peek in your spam folder), and if you try to create an account with an email that already has one, we offer to sign you in instead.
• Never locked out — every account screen has a visible “Continue without an account” exit. The app stays fully usable anonymously; only Save asks for an account, and even that's dismissible.
• Smoother starts — fixes from our final pre-release pass: accepting the age screen after a reset now takes you straight into the app (no more force-quit), and the Settings screen no longer offers to open… another Settings screen.
• Updated Terms on first launch — we refreshed our Terms & Privacy for the public beta (now under SniffSafari Labs, LLC), so you'll be asked to accept them once when you open this version.
• Delete wines that wouldn't delete — rated and favorite wines now remove cleanly and stay gone (and stop influencing your recommendations). Tap a wine for details; long-press for the menu.
• "Reset app & start over" — Settings → Reset app & start over. Clears everything on this device for a clean slate but keeps your account so you can sign back in. Different from "Delete my account," which removes the account for good.
• A fresh reinstall is actually fresh — uninstalling and reinstalling now starts you clean: no restored session, no skipped age gate, no leftover data. Updating in place keeps you signed in as normal.
• Your own account, finally — email and password sign-up the first time you go to save a wine. Existing beta users keep every wine they've saved — we link your anonymous identity to the new account, no data lost.
• Save your scans across devices — once you have an account, your Wine Journey and saved wine lists are anchored to your identity. Reinstall? Sign in and pick up where you left off (multi-device sync arrives in 5.0.1).
• Delete my account, anywhere — Settings → Delete my account. Hard delete, no recovery period — your account, email, and on-device data are permanently removed.
• Anonymous-friendly browsing — you can still scan wine lists and get recommendations without an account. Sign-up only triggers when you tap Save.
• Tightened age gate — the under-21 lock is now durable; closing the app and reopening keeps you locked. (Previously a dialog you could dismiss.)
• Local-only ratings & preferences — ratings, taste profile, and Wine Journey entries stay on your device. Only your account identity, email, and the legal attestation timestamp are stored on our servers. See the updated Privacy Policy § 14 for details.
• Refreshed Privacy & Terms — effective May 2026; reflects the new auth surface, what we store, and how deletion works.
