64K views · 833 reactions | How I made our bath panel for under £100! ❤️ Measured bath frame and allowed for a secret door. ❤️ Bought pine stripwood from B&Q for top & bottom of frame so that door didn’t swing onto tiles. ❤️ Got MDF cut to size in store (5 free cuts) for back panel. ❤️ Cut MDF slat wall panels to size with circular saw. ❤️ Glued slats to MDF using No More Nails + clamps. ❤️ Sealed MDF with Thompson’s water seal. ❤️ Primed with 2 coats of primer. ❤️ Painted 2 coats Bathroom Wood & Cabinet Paint (Colour : Valentina). ❤️ Fixed painted panel between stripwood (also primed & painted). ❤️ Repeated process for secret door, attached with cupboard hinges! I did this 2 years ago and it’s not swelled at all. There’s no paint damage either. It’s very water despite my 2 boys splash-testing it 🤣💦. What do you think? Design Flexibility and Material Choices

One of the strongest features of the latest bath panel offerings is the variety of materials and finishes on display. You can select from high gloss surfaces that reflect light and create a sense of space, or more muted textures that add subtle depth to the walls. Durable materials such as ceramic, glass, and engineered composites are popular choices, each providing distinct benefits in terms of stain resistance and longevity. This flexibility ensures that the panels can complement a wide spectrum of interior styles, from classic to ultra modern.

Color Schemes and Patterns

Color plays a critical role in defining the atmosphere of a bathroom, and the new bath panels are available in an extensive palette. Neutral tones such as whites, beiges, and soft greys work well for creating a spa like retreat, while deeper shades add a dramatic focal point. In addition to solid colors, you may find subtle patterns and textured finishes that introduce visual interest without overwhelming the space. Coordinating these choices with existing fixtures ensures a harmonious design scheme that feels intentional and balanced.

Size and Layout Options

Panel sizing is another area where B&Q caters to different project requirements, supplying both large format sheets for a seamless look and smaller modular pieces for intricate layouts. Larger panels can reduce the number of visible joints, resulting in a cleaner appearance and easier cleaning routine. Conversely, smaller tiles and panels allow for creative arrangements, such as accent strips or feature walls behind the bath. Careful planning of dimensions ensures that the panels align correctly with plumbing points and electrical fittings where relevant.

Functionality and Practical Advantages

Beyond aesthetics, the functionality of new bath panels is a major consideration for homeowners and professional installers alike. These panels are typically designed to provide a protective barrier against moisture, helping to preserve the structural integrity of walls in wet areas. In addition to water resistance, many products feature smooth surfaces that resist mold buildup and are simple to wipe down. This combination of durability and ease of care makes them especially appealing for busy households.

Installation and Compatibility

Modern bath panels are often engineered for straightforward installation, which can reduce labor costs and project timelines. Depending on the system chosen, panels may lock together using concealed fixing methods or be secured with minimal visible hardware. It is important to verify compatibility with your existing bath, wall materials, and insulation requirements before committing to a specific product. Consulting B&Q specifications and guidance notes helps avoid surprises and ensures that the chosen solution meets building standards.

Maintenance and Long Term Performance

Long term performance is a decisive factor when investing in bathroom surfaces, and the latest panels are built to withstand daily use. Resistant to scratches, stains, and humidity, these panels maintain their appearance over many years with basic cleaning routines. Proper sealing and grout maintenance further enhance durability, particularly in areas subject to heavy use. Selecting products with proven track records provides reassurance that the bathroom will continue to look and perform well over time.

Taking time to compare options ensures that you choose a solution that meets both functional needs and design aspirations.

When comparing products, pay attention to details such as recommended fixing methods, edge trims, and compatible sealants, as these elements influence the final finish. It is also wise to check for warranty information and installation guidelines, particularly if you are working with complex layouts or unusual architectural features.
