You have the bonus of being able to head off on a mystery tour- just going with the flow wherever your fancy takes you each day - with the aid of gps you shouldn't get lost, or, you can plan an itinerary in meticulous detail. Planning is good if there are specific places you want to visit on the way to a final destination and is helpful if you are taking a ferry to any of the islands - not because it is always necessary to book a ferry slot in advance but places might be limited in peak summer season and why waste good holiday time waiting for a departure time.

Hiking is a huge perk of living in arizona. It’s an easy way to stay active on weekends, and tempe has so many nearby trails to choose from, so you’ll never be bored! hike or bike at hayden butte preserve park , where you can find petroglyphs created by the hohokam tribe that lived in the area until 1450. Head over to the south mountain national trail , a 16-mile trail that’s ideal for mountain biking and hiking throughout the year. Take a scenic run through the papago park butte loop to see the beautiful wildlife. Enjoy amazing views of the lake as you jog along 5. 7-mile-long tempe town lake trail. Or take a walk through the crosscut canal path that stretches through papago park.

I don’t know about you, but i find that college towns have some of the best up and coming food scenes in the nation. Alumni stick around to try out a new restaurant concept. Perhaps rents are cheaper or restaurant groups know that they have a willing audience to test out the latest food craze. Either way, tempe is no exception to the college food town phenomenon.
