70-yr-old woman found murdered
Ludhiana, December 11
 A 70-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in the Daba area of the city this evening. The victim has been identified as Narinder Kaur.
 
Residents wake up to powerless morning
  Ludhiana, December 11 Thundershowers accompanied by high velocity winds that lashed the city in the wee hours of Tuesday wreaked havoc on power supply in the city. Residents in many localities as well as commercial establishments and industrial units had to go without electricity for three to six hours.

 Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria has issued show-cause notices to 20 officials posted in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation’s Zone D office after they reporting late on duty.
 
Allotment of land to residents’ body under vigilance scanner
  Ludhiana, December 11 The Local Government Department, Punjab, has taken a serious note of the allotment of 3,556 square yard of land in the J-block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar locality to a residents' body for a Community Centre in 1985 by Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT).

2 vehicle lifters held
Ludhiana, December 11
 With the arrest to two persons, the city police claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle lifters.
        The police has recovered three stolen motorcycles from the accused. The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh Mand and Amandeep Singh. They were nabbed from the Dugri area following a tip-off.
 
Youths killed in accidents
Ludhiana, December 11
 Two persons were killed in different parts of the city in separate accidents.
        A 22-year-old youth, Deepak Kumar, a resident of Civil City in Haibowal, was injured when his motorcycle hit a bull standing in the middle of the road last night.

  Ludhiana, December 11 To check the menace of rehris in the city, the Mayor today issued orders stating that if any rehri was confiscated three times by the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation's tehbazaari wing, it will not be returned to its owner.

 A week-long chrysanthemum exhibition, jointly organised by the department of floriculture and landscaping and Estate Organisation of Punjab Agricultural University, witnessed a good response. Dr Kushal Singh, head, department of floriculture and landscaping, said the parrot green flowers were the major attraction.
