Alpengrow Farm is a small family operated farm in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. We take pride in using only organic and sustainable practices to produce a variety of tree fruit, vegetables, and mushrooms. We are also a specialty breeder of purebred Southdown Babydoll sheep and Lagotto Romagnolo dogs.
Babydoll Southdown Sheep
Olde English Miniature Babydoll Southdown sheep are an ancient breed with sweet disposition and characteristic smiling bear faces. Their small size (only about 24 inches tall when full grown) makes them an excellent choice as natural mowers for use in orchards, vineyards and other farming applications where grass and weeds need to be kept to a minimum. The breed of sheep originated in the South Downs of Sussex county, England and are one of the oldest of the Down breeds. English farms originally kept these sheep for their dual-purpose--flavorful meat and fine fleece. Their wool is short and stapled with a medium micron count (about 19-22). We take great care in our breeding program and only mate stock that represents the best structure and genetics for the breed. All of our Babydolls are genetically screened and registered with the North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association and Registry (nabssar.org). We produce a limited number of lambs each spring so please contact us if you are interested in a purchase.
Lagotto Romagnolo
The Lagotto is an ancient breed of dog from the lowlands of Italy. Originally developed as a fowl water retriever, recently in history they have been adapted as excellent scent dogs and are also known as being excellent truffle hunters. Lagotti are characteristically intelligent with sharp senses making them particularly good working dogs. They are also very loyal and loving, making them the perfect family companions. We produce a very limited number litters so please contact us if you are interested in the purchase of a pup.
