The Human Cost of Military Service

The numbers and statistics only tell part of the story. Behind each loss is a family, a community, and a nation mourning the sacrifice of a loved one. The active duty deaths in 2018 serve as a stark reminder of the human cost of military service and the importance of honoring and supporting our service members and their families.

As we look back on 2018, let us also look forward to a future where the need for such sacrifices is minimized, and the safety and well-being of our military personnel are paramount. In the meantime, let us never forget the service and sacrifice of those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
