The foot motion is important! You move a little at a time and make strong impact with each step. The motion changes depending on the stage of the process - at first, sharp strong pushes with the side of the foot are needed to cut and move the large mound of clay. Subsequently, a gentler motion of the foot is needed to gradually push the clay out in waves.
