Triangle Inequality Theorem Discovery Activity 7.G.A.2

How To Prove Triangle Inequality
Triangle Inequality Theorem (V1): Students can use this interactive applet to intuitively and informally discover this theorem.
My students love doing puzzles rather than long worksheets. This is a great way for students to practice solving inequalities. Students tape the answer to an inequality to the problem. Once all of the pieces are together they will have a triangle. I had my students paste their triangles to 1/2 a poster board.

How To Do Triangle Inequality
This discovery learning activity provides guidance for students to discover the triangle inequality theorem (the lengths of sides for which it will be form a triangle). Included in this document are two versions of the activity to allow differentiation of the lesson - one being open ended and the other more guided.Supplies that must be provided in order for students to complete this activity: straws cut into pieces of specified lengths.
This is a fun way for students to practice identifying and solving problems with inequalities in triangles.

Students will explore the triangle inequality theorem by trying to create their own triangles with various side lengths. Students will cut out strips of paper to represent the side lengths of the triangles, then will put a given three together to test and see if a triangle can be formed.
In this activity, students will practice inequalities in triangles. This fun activity has high school geometry students practice the Triangle Inequality Theorem. #geometry #mrseteachesmath
