Privacy Policy

Fridge Chef ("the App") is developed and operated by Sandeep Mysore. There are no accounts. This policy explains what happens to your photos and data.

What stays on your device

Your pantry list and use-by dates.
Your recipes, cooked history, dish photos and share cards.
Your diet, allergies, servings and reminder settings, and your scan allowance.

These are saved in the App’s private storage on your phone. We have no copy of them.

Fridge photos

When you scan, the App sends that one photo to the Fridge Chef server, hosted on Google Cloud. The server resizes it and sends it to Google’s Gemini API to identify the food and estimate how long it keeps, returns the list to your phone, and does not store the photo. Photos of your plate for “I made this” cards never leave your phone unless you share them.

Recipes

To write recipes, the App sends your ingredient names and use-by estimates, diet, allergies, number of servings, units and the titles of recipes you’ve already seen to the server, which asks Google’s Gemini API and returns the recipes. Nothing is stored after the request. Google processes this under the Gemini API Additional Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.

Recipes and use-by dates are generated by AI and are estimates. Always check food labels, allergens and that food is safe to eat.

Reporting a recipe

If you tap Report recipe, the reason you chose, any note you add, the recipe and your diet and allergy settings are sent to our server logs so we can review it. Reports contain no photos and are kept for up to 30 days.

Camera, photos and notifications

The App asks for camera access only when you take a photo, and uses your photo library only to let you pick a photo. Notifications are used only for the expiry reminders and cooking timers you turn on; they are scheduled on your device.

Anonymous device ID and limits

The App creates a random ID on first launch and sends it with scan and recipe requests so the server can apply fair daily limits. It isn’t linked to your identity and the server forgets it within a day.

Advertising (free version)

Free users can choose to watch a short ad from Google AdMob for an extra scan. Ads are never shown unless you choose to watch one, and never after you buy Fridge Chef Unlimited. To serve and measure ads, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

Device identifiers such as the advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; Android Advertising ID on Android).
Your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location.
Ad interactions and diagnostic information such as app launches and crashes.

This data is collected and processed by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Your photos, pantry and recipes are never shared with advertisers.

Your choices about ads

iPhone: the App asks through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, everything works the same and ads aren’t personalized with your advertising ID. Change it anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google’s consent message lets you accept, reject or manage personalized ads. Revisit it in the App under Settings › Ad privacy choices.
Android: reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s privacy settings.
No ads at all: Fridge Chef Unlimited removes ads and ad requests.

Purchases

Fridge Chef Unlimited is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They handle payment; we never see your card or account details. The App only learns whether it was purchased.

Children

Fridge Chef is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Deleting your data

Use Settings › Delete all my data, or uninstall the App. See Delete data.
