Kitchen wrapping, new doors or a respray: which is right?

If your kitchen works but looks tired, there are four ways to change it: wrap it, replace the doors, respray it or refit it. This guide compares them honestly. KWrap is a wrapping company, so for a quote on that option go to the KWrap quote page.

When wrapping is the right answer

Wrapping suits kitchens whose layout and cabinets are fine but whose finish has dated or worn. It is the only option that can turn a plain door into a wood grain, marble or concrete look, and it can do the worktops in the same visit. It is also the least disruptive, which matters in flats, rentals and homes that are being sold.

When another option is better

Replacement doors make sense when the doors themselves are damaged, swollen or a style you want to change, such as flat doors to shaker. Respraying suits solid wood or painted kitchens where you want a single paint colour and are happy with the extra time on site. A full refit is the answer when the layout does not work or the cabinets are failing.

If cabinets are sound but some doors are damaged, a mix can work: replace the damaged doors, then wrap everything in one film so it all matches.

Questions to ask any company

Questions

Is wrapping cheaper than a new kitchen?

Yes, by a wide margin, because the cabinets, worktop structure, plumbing and appliances stay. The exact price depends on the number of doors and panels and the film chosen, and is given after a survey.

Can a wrapped kitchen be re-wrapped later?

Yes. If you want a different look in future, the film can be removed and a new one fitted.
