BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
James Boyd Reay was born in Minnesota in 1948. He attended Minnetonka High School and Bemidji State University before being drafted into the Army on January 13, 1969. From June to September 1969 he was in active combat duty with 25th Infantry Division near Củ Chi, South Vietnam. Reay was wounded on his first patrol, and received a Purple Heart. When Reay's younger brother accepted military assignment in Vietnam, Reay was transferred to a military installation in Cam Ranh Bay, South Vietnam. He served there as a security guard until his discharge in August 1970.
Following the Vietnam War, Reay eventually met his partner, became active in the Unitarian Universalist Church, and settled in Glendale, Arizona.
