PDF Viewer

OfficeSuite's PDF Viewer provides comprehensive PDF conversion and viewing features built in. It provides options for PDF markup and annotation, as well as the ability to convert PDFs to editable formats like Word and Excel. There are also PDF Viewer keyboard shortcuts for attached physical keyboards.

The Slides Editor is easily identified by its characteristic red-colored menu bar.

Viewer mode

PDF files are automatically opened in Viewer mode. This mode lets you view documents with minimal interference from the interface. To enable editing, tap on the Editor icon to enter Editor mode.

When in Viewer mode, to toggle the interface, tap anywhere in the document. You can browse between pages with vertical swipes, and zoom in and out of the interface with a pinch gesture.

At the upper right corner of the screen you'll find options to share the document, these are detailed in our separate Sharing Options topic. The third icon on the top right will open the Contextual menu providing a wide range of options for viewing documents:

Save any changes made to the PDF in its current format.
Save as in another location.
Print the PDF using a networked printer.
Find instances of entered text. You can browse between results using the left and right arrows.
Export as a Word, Excel, or ePub file and choose a local or remote save location.
Protect the PDF using a custom password. Note that user-generated passwords are NOT recoverable if forgotten!
Quick Sign adds virtual signatures to a PDF. Note that this is not equivalent to adding a digital signature. To add a digital signature, use the Sign tool.
Text-to-Speech activates text-to-speech dictation.
View mode selects between continuous, single page, two page, two page with cover, and PDF reflow view modes.
Night Mode displays the PDF with a dark color scheme, useful for viewing in low-light environments.
Go to page... takes you to the relevant page in the PDF.
Zoom the view to different levels for easier viewing.
Outline displays a summary (where applicable) of the table of contents, digital signatures, and comments within the PDF.
Manage versions allows you to view and work with previous versions of a specific file. This option is visible only on files that have been uploaded to your MobiSystems Drive account.
Properties shows you detailed information about the specific file such as location, type, size, who has access and more.

To enable editing, tap on the Editor icon to enter Editor mode.

Editor mode

The PDF Viewer provides a tabbed interface with options similar to those found on desktop PC's. The tabs in the PDF Viewer are File, Home, Review, and Protect. Additional Highlight, Underline, Strikethrough, and Freehand Draw tabs will appear to coincide with the tools used in the Review tab.

The topmost menu of the PDF Viewer provides several options:

Save any changes made to the PDF.
Undo the most recent change made.
Redo the most recent undone change.
Enable Viewer mode.

Up/Down arrow toggles visibility of the interface.

File

The File tab houses all of the file management capabilities of the PDF Viewer. From here you can open and save PDF documents, as well as setup page layouts, print, and more.

Open – Exits the current module, allowing you to open a new file.
Open Recent – Displays a list of recently-opened files for quick access.
Save – Saves any changes you have made to the PDF.
Save As – Allows you to save the PDF with a new name and/or file type.
Print – Opens the Print dialog, which displays a thumbnail view of pages for printing. You can select a connected printer by tapping on its name in the upper left. To print, tap on the Printer icon in the upper right.
Pages can be toggled with the Checkbox on the bottom right, while advanced print options are displayed by tapping on the bar across the top. From here, you can specify the number of copies to print, paper size, and orientation, among others.
Share – Allows you to share the document with others.
Protect – Allows you to add a custom password to restrict editing, opening, printing, and/or extracting the document. Note that user-generated password are NOT recoverable if forgotten!
Version History – Allows you to view and work with previous versions of a specific file. This option is visible only on files that have been uploaded to your MobiSystems Drive account.
Info – Shows you detailed information about the specific file such as location, type, size, who has access and more.

Home

The Home tab is where you'll find tools for searching text and adjusting zoom levels, as well as converting to editable file formats.

Outline – Displays a summary (where applicable) of the table of contents, digital signatures, and comments within the PDF.
Go to Page... – Goes to the selected page in the PDF.
Find – Will search for instances of text entered in the Search field. Browsing between search results is done with the Back and Forth arrows.
View Mode – Toggles between single page (scrollable horizontally), continuous (scrollable vertically), two pages, and two pages with cover view modes.
Zoom – Provides a list of predefined values to which to zoom the view.
Export to Word* – Exports the PDF as a .DOC file to the folder you specify.
Export to Excel* – Exports the PDF as an .XLS file to the folder you specify.
Export to ePub* – Exports the PDF as an .EPUB file to the folder you specify.
Text to Speech – Enables voice dictation of on-screen elements. Tap on the Down arrow to choose from a variety of languages.

Review

The Review tab houses annotation tools for adding markup to your PDF files.

Each annotation features a popup menu that appears once you have placed it, providing you with any number of the following customizations:

Comment adds or changes a comment associated with the selected annotation.
Properties provides options to annotation properties, including color and font for text annotation, as well as line thickness and opacity for shape annotations.
Delete the currently selected annotation.
Cut an element to the Clipboard.
Copy an element from the Clipboard.
Paste an element from the Clipboard.

A wide range of annotations are available for your PDF files:

Note – Add notes to pages of a PDF file. Notes are identified by the Note icon and can be moved with a tap-and-hold gesture.
Text – The Free Text tool allows you to add free-floating text to a PDF.
Highlight – Adds highlighting to text within a PDF. Highlight options are provided under the Highlight tab, which appears after you have highlighted text.
Underline – Can be used to underline text within a PDF. Underline options are part of the Underline tab, which appears after you have underlined text.
Strikethrough – Adds a strikethrough effect to text within the PDF. Strikethrough customizations appear as part of the Strikethrough tab, which appears once you mark text for strikethrough.
Free Draw – Lets you draw custom line figures, which can appear over text and other document elements. Freehand draw pens can be customized from the Freehand Draw tab that appears when using the tool.
Line – The Line tool is used to add line indicators to a PDF, with customizable color, thickness, and line endings from the Line tab.
Rectangle – Used to overlay a rectangle onto PDF documents. Rectangle color, thickness, and opacity can be customized from the popup menu.
Ellipse – The Ellipse tool is used to overlay ellipses and circles into your PDF. You can adjust color, thickness, and opacity from the popup menu.
Attach File – Attach lets you embed a file into the PDF document, which will be displayed as a small thumbtack icon.
Picture – Add an image from your devices' storage as an annotation.
Web Picture – Add an image via Internet search as an annotation.
Camera – Add an image from your devices' camera as an annotation.

Sign

The Sign tab allows you to change document security, visualize and validate digital signatures, as well as certify, sign, or time-stamp the document. Go here for more information on the wide range of digital PDF security, validation, and certification features provided by OfficeSuite.

Quick Sign – The Quick Sign tool is used to add virtual signatures to a PDF. Note that this is not equivalent to adding a digital signature. To add a digital signature, use the Sign tool.
Date – Lets you add the date as floating text on top of the PDF file. Note that this is not equivalent to adding a timestamp. To add a timestamp, use the Timestamp tool.
Free Text – The Free Text tool allows you to add free-floating text to a PDF. When used a popup menu will display that allows the following additional options:
Paste the text from the clipboard.
Properties provides options to change font color, style, size, weight, and alignment.
Delete the currently selected free text element.
Free Draw – Lets you draw custom line figures, which can appear over text and other document elements. Freehand draw pens can be customized from the Freehand Draw tab that appears when using the tool.
Certify – Allows you to add a digital certification to a PDF, in order to validate its authenticity.
Sign – The Sign tool lets you add a digital signature to a PDF.
Timestamp – Adding a timestamp allows you certify that you have viewed the PDF at a given time.
Profiles – Displays a list of predefined values for timestamps, certifications, and signatures that are saved as profiles. Profiles are useful as you do not have to repeatedly enter credentials multiple times.

Highlight

The Highlight tab appears once you have highlighted text in the PDF.

Done – Accepts any highlight changes made.
Color – Changes the highlight color.

Underline

The Underline tab appears when you add an underline annotation in the PDF.

Done – Accepts any underline changes made.
Color – Changes the underline color.

Strikethrough

The Strikethrough tab appears when you add a strikethrough annotation to text in the PDF.

Done – Accepts any strikethrough changes made.
Color – Changes the strikethrough color.

Freehand Draw

The Freehand Draw tab appears whenever the Freehand Draw tool is used from the Review tab.

Done – Accepts any changes made to the Freehand drawing.
Add Note – Add a note with text to the drawing.
Colour – Determines the line color of the freehand draw tool.
Opacity – Allows you to set transparency for the line color.
Line Thickness – Specifies the line thickness.

You can also tap-and-hold on recognized text in a PDF to select it, and adjust the selection using the selection arrows. Once selected, the text popup menu appears, which provides additional options for manipulating text:

Copy the selected text.
Word Lookup the selected text in an installed dictionary.
Web Search the selected text online.
Highlight the selected text.
Strikethrough the selected text.
Underline the selected text.
