ARIJ Organizes a Webinar on "Journalism Made Visible": A Canva Tool for Journalists and Fact-Checkers

As part of the “Shielding the Truth” project funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ARIJ held a webinar titled “Journalism Made Visible”: A Canva Tool for Journalists and Fact-Checkers, led by ARIJ’s Communications Manager, Samya Ayish. The session was attended by 98 journalists and fact-checkers from 16 countries (70% female).


The webinar focused on how to use the Canva platform to design visually engaging and effective journalistic content, from social media posts and presentations to AI-generated videos and images. The session also addressed ethical considerations when using design tools, including transparency in disclosing AI-generated visuals, and the importance of balancing human and machine elements in content production.


Ayish delivered a live, interactive demonstration using various Canva tools, along with practical tips for saving time, enhancing content quality, and optimizing visual materials for different digital platforms. She also showcased the use of tools such as Magic Write, Text to Image, and Video Generator.


The session received significant engagement from participants, with an overall satisfaction score of 92.5%, while the trainer was rated at 94%, reflecting the strong impact of the training and its delivery.
