Sudans Post reported this morning that General Dor was wounded after involvement in a shooting with one of his bodyguards. He and the bodyguard identified as 2nd Lt. Gatluak Riek are being treated at the military hospital.
In a statement, army spokesman Major-General Lul Ruai Koang confirmed the incident and said the two are being treated at a military hospital in Juba and the cause for the gunfire exchange was being established.
“The SSPDF Leadership would like to inform own rank and file and the people of South Sudan that was shootout between two servicemen; Lt. Gen. Peter Dor Manjur, SSPDF Inspector General and his bodyguard, 2nd Lt. Gatluak Riek,” Lul said.
“Both servicemen sustained none life threatening gunshot wounds and are currently receiving treatment at Juba Military Hospital,” he said, adding that “Reason for shootout is yet to be established.”
