Top army commander General Dor Manjur wounded in shooting with bodyguards at Bilpam

Senior commander of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces Lt Gen. Peter Dor Gatluak has been wounded this morning during a shooting with his bodyguards at Bilpam, the army headquarters, according to the army spokesman Major-General Lul Ruai Koang.

JUBA — Senior commander of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces Lt Gen. Peter Dor Manjur Gatluak has been wounded this morning during a shooting with his bodyguards at Bilpam, the army headquarters, according to the army spokesman Major-General Lul Ruai Koang.

Major-General Lul who could not reveal the reason behind the shooting, said he was waiting for a report to update the media but confirmed that the senior army commander has sustained injuries and was being treated at a hospital.

“I honestly don’t know. I am waiting for an official explanation but what had happened is that shoot-out started at the office of the general,” General Lul told Sudans Post in Juba moments ago.

Koang added that “I don’t know the reason for the shooting and I can’t explain how it happened.”

He disclosed that General Peter Dor Manjur who is the SSPDF’s Inspector General was then receiving treatment at Juba Military Hospital.

“They shot at each other and both of them are sustaining gunshot wounds. They had wounded each. The general is now receiving treatment at Juba Military Hospital and I don’t know about the bodyguard,” he added
