Juba – A gunship operated by the South Sudan People Defense Forces has been reportedly shot down in Ulang County of Upper Nile State, with the White Army claiming responsibility.

The militia says that on April 8, 2025, the White Army, also known as the Naath Defense Forces (NDF), claimed that it successfully shot down an SSPDF gunship in the Lony Deng Yuel area of Ulang.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, the community militia also alleged that the gunship, believed to have taken off from Malakal, “conducted an aerial assault on our defensive positions and was subsequently neutralized by our forces.”

When contacted for comments by Sudans Post, Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, the Spokesperson of SSPDF, subtly denied the report, calling it a “lie”.
