Central Equatoria passes SSP16 million budget

Dr. Andruga Mabe, Central Equatoria State Minister of Information and Communication disclosed that financial contributions from state oil owed revenue to this year’s budget amounted to 10.99 SSP, while grants from the national government accounted for 5.07 billion SSP.

JUBA – The Central Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly on Monday passed the budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 amounting to 16.06 billion South Sudanese Pounds.

Dr. Andruga Mabe, Central Equatoria State Minister of Information and Communication disclosed that financial contributions from state oil owed revenue to this year’s budget amounted to 10.99 SSP, while grants from the national government accounted for 5.07 billion SSP.

“The budget was projected to the tune of SSP 16.05 billion, overshadowed by the state-owned revenues for the first time to the tune of SSP 10.99 billion,” Mabe told reporters during a press conference in Juba on Tuesday.

“While general block grant transfers from the National Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning constitute only SSP 5.07 billion SSP,” added Mabe.

Mabe said that SSP 5.16 billion will cover wages and salaries and SSP 6.76 will be used to purchase goods and services.

“The use of goods and services carry the lion’s share of the budget amounting to 6.76 billion followed by wages and salaries SSP 5.16 billion,” he said.

Hon. Jacob Lado Paul, Chairperson for Economic, Finance, and Investment at the state parliament said 1,828,449,427 have been allocated to the state government secretariat.

Paul said the Ministry of Roads and Bridges has been allocated SSP 454,179,205 and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with SSP 421,426,243.

The Ministry of Peace Building will receive SSP 273,270,893, Ministry of health with 900,383,038.

The Ministry of General Education is budgeted at SSP 2,724,814,292 and the Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare with 362,870,337.
