JUBA – The Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmund Yakani, has threatened to sue state governors over any failure to respect representation of  women, youths, and  persons with disabilities in the upcoming formation of the state governments.

Yakani raised the warning during a press conference held in the organization’s premises in Juba on Thursday.

“If we realize any violation to this request, the only option we will have at hand is to sue you in the competent court in the country,” Yakani said.

Yakani said they have filed up enough evidence to take legal action against any governor who may violate the provisions on the inclusion of women, youths, and disabled persons in the state government.

The activist revealed that they are working closely with the independent team of five lawyers to find the best ways of winning the case.

He said the legal representatives are ready and waiting when the governors will go contrarily to these provisions of the agreement.

“If the governors want to test us, let them try to violate and see if whether these five independent lawyers are ready or not and you will see how serious we are,” he told reporters.

“We have enough evidence based on the revitalize peace agreement and the constitution that we can use to open a case against state governors,” he added.

CEPO is deep concern over the delay in the formation of the state government which he said is hindering delivering of social services and humanitarian aid to flood victims, calling for immediate formation before November.
