South Sudanese outraged over gruesome killing of teenager in Cairo

CAIRO – South Sudan social media activists are outraged over a gruesome killing of a South Sudanese teenager in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Thursday by an Egyptian gang-group member.

The 17-year-old South Sudanese was killed in the Cairo suburb of Masaken Osman of 6th October City.

Sources have told Sudans Post that Egyptian authorities were still hunting down the culprit.

“This is one of the gruesome killings against South Sudanese that have happened in teh Egyptian soil. South Sudan government must reconsider its relationship with Egypt because we are not being protected in their soil,” one activist, Michael Malual, wrote on Facebook.

Another Facebooker decried the “continued harassment and killing of South Sudanese refugees in the watchful eye of the Egyptian authorities. This is not the way our relationship should continue.”

For her part, a Egyptian journalists with ties to South Sudanese, Saly Atef, said in a social media Facebook post that the South Sudan Egyptian relations should not be put at risk by criminals that paint bad image for Egyptian values, calling the authorities to immediate apprehend the culprit.

“This is a heinous incident of an innocent child from South Sudan at the hands of a thug who insults Egypt and the Egyptians He only represents himself, and I hope that justice will be speed up and he is arrested and tried,” Saly wrote.

The Egyptian journalist warned that “Such individual and stupid crimes can destroy international and popular relations that span centuries of love and cooperation. My urgent appeal to the ministry of interior is to arrest the culprit quickly.”

“We are Africans. African blood is precious, and there must be punishment, accountability and protection in their second homeland, Egypt, which strives for all equally in safety, love and mercy.”
