JUBA – The Nuer community has condemned South Sudan opposition leader and second deputy of the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly Gen. Bapiny Manytuil for demanding an apology over the isolation of the Bul-Nuer community by the entire Nuer community during the conflict.

Yesterday, Gen. Bapiny who is also the chairman of the Bul Initiative for Peace and Reconciliation said in a statement that the Nuer community and Dr. Riek Machar Teny should apologize because of “All these inhuman acts were perpetrated by Nuer community against Bul and no one had ever voiced a day that Bul are innocent people.”

In a statement extended to Sudans Post this evening, the Nuer community said it is “dumbfounded and dismayed by seeing such a disdain, cowardice and shameful statement from one of Nuer’s sons.”

“The statement sadly suggests that the Nuer Community should apologize for being searched and mercilessly murdered in cold-blood without any crime committed by the government’s armed men.

“Condemns the statement in the strong terms possible and demands that Hon. Bapiny Manytuil Wajang should immediately apologize to the Nuer Community and Bul Community for writing such a disdain, cowardice and shameful statement.

“Believes that the Nuer Community stood up for the right cause on 15 December 2013 and will not apologize to anyone to reward heinous criminal acts committed against its members.

“Applauds all members of Nuer Community for patriotically standing up and defending their loved ones against a murderous regime who was committed to wipe them out on the face of the earth.

“That Nuer Community is not associated with one political group within or outside the country. Thus, the Council recognizes and respects that members of the Nuer Community have diverse political views and affiliations.

“Reiterates that anyone or group who committed war crimes and crimes against humanity against members of the Nuer community by acts of maiming, raping, castration of boys, abduction of young girls and women, looting of properties, destruction of properties and outright cold-blood murder of innocent Nuer civilians must be held to account.”
