JUBA – The governor of Western Equatoria State Gen. Alfred Futuyo has ordered disgruntled senior government officials from the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IG) to return to their offices, saying government officials are not allowed to boycott their duties.

This comes after ministers and heads of independent commissions from the ruling party announced suspension of their participation in the state transitional government after accusing the governor of withdrawing from council of ministers’ meetings where he is not respected by the officials.

In a gubernatorial order seen by Sudans Post, Governor Futuyo said all government officials are required to return to their offices because they are not allowed to be out of their duties without concrete reasons that may affect service delivery to the public.

“All members of the Executive, the members of the Revitalized Transitional Western Equatoria State Assembly, the Independent Commissions, and Civil Servants across the State are urged to attend their duty as usually without attempting to boycott their places of work,” Governor Futuyo ordered.

Gen. Futuyo who is the chairperson of the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) further revealed to the public that the political and security situation in the restive state remains stable allowing the government to carry out its duties.

“It is worth informing the general public that the general situation in the state is normal,” the order further added.
