This comes after a former lawmaker representing one of the constituencies in Unity State called on President Salva Kiir to remove Manytuil after citizens in Bentiu invaded Nam River for manual dredging which the former lawmaker said was very dangerous given the wild animal inside the river.
Speaking after presiding over the newly-appointed Gubernatorial Advisor for Gender, Child and Social Welfare Yohanes Kujiek Ruot at the state secretariat in Bentiu this week, Governor Manytuil said the situation in Unity State is challenging.
“Our state, this state called Unity State is having a lot of challenges,” Governor Manytuil said.
“We have issues to do with this peace and security across the state. We have this flooding that has taken the state and devastating everything and turned our people into internally displaced persons. So, the situation is very challenging,” he added.
JUBA POC DEMONSTRATION
Protests broke out at the former United Nations of Civilian Site in Juba on Saturday morning to request President Salva Kiir Mayardit to reverse his decision to order halt into all dredging-related activities to rescue the people of Unity State.
Puot Tap Riek, one of the activists who organized the demonstration said the people of Unity State have spoken through the demonstration and called for the presidency to take an immediate action in the interest of helping the people of Unity State.
“The people of Unity State have spoken, they want Naam River to be clear and dredge because the water that overflow from the river is affecting the people, plus the oil wastes that mix with water,” he told Sudans Post in the POC.
“Therefore the Youth and people of Unity State are urging the presidency of the country to take immediate actions to save lives of the people,” he added.
