For the last two weeks, President Salva has been forming governments for the country’s ten states appointing ministers, county commissioners, gubernatorial advisors and heads of state independent commissions.
Some observers and activists have criticized the president saying the move to appoint the state government officials violates the constitution which gives that power to state governors.
In a Republican order on Tuesday, Kiir says he is delegating powers to swear in state officials to the governors.
“Each Governor is hereby delegated the power to swear into Office the appointed State Government officials in accordance with the provisions of the respective State constitution and local Government Act, 2009,” he said in the order.
“All the States Governors, State and Local Government officials shall, pending amendment of the State Constitutions and the local Government Act, 2009 , exercise their respective legal mandates in conformity with the terms of the Revitalized Agreement and in a collegial manner to avoid any disagreements,” he added.

It is good to give powers to the governors of the state so that they will be respected.
