Gov’t announces Christmas, New Year holiday

JUBA – South Sudan’s ministry of labor and public service has announced that December  24, and January 1, 2021, will be Christmas and New Year, respectively, holidays.

In a statement, the ministry said public servants as well as those working in the NGO sector in South Sudan will spend their Christmas holiday from December 24, 2020, to December 27. The same will happen from January 1, to January 4.

“The National Ministry of Labour hereby informs all the Civil Service Institutions, Commissions, Diplomatic Missions, UN Agencies, International and National Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the Public at large that Christmas Holiday shall commence on Thursday, 24th December 2020 until Sunday, 27th December 2020. Work resumes on Monday, 28th December 2020,” a statement signed by the undersecretary of labor, Mary Hillary Pitia, reads in part.

“The Public is also informed that Friday, 1st January 2021, will be a public holiday and that all employees shall resume work on Monday, 4th January 2021. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” the statement added.
