JUBA – South Sudan government has urged members of the holdout opposition groups to return to the negotiating table a week after South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA), an opposition alliance of four rebel groups, boycotted the talk.

Last week, Emmanuel Ajawin, the Secretary-General of SSOMA told Sudans Post that they were boycotting the Rome talk which was to resume on 8 May in Rome, Italy, over the possible assassination of an opposition commander in Uganda.

Speaking to journalists in Juba on Tuesday, presidential security affairs advisor Tutkew Gatluak urged opposition to return back to the talks reiterating government commitment to ending war through peaceful means.

“As a government, we are ready to dialogue and negotiate with anyone for peace and stability in this country. We don’t want war anymore,” Gatluak said.
