JUBA — South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has sacked in a presidential decree the Director-General of Department of Nationality, Passport, and Immigration after nearly three years in the position.

General John Akot Maluth was appointed to the position in 2018 and has been under intense public criticism over the way he ran one of the most important government department.

In another decree read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) replaced the immigration boss with Lieutenant General Atem Marol Biar.

The decree relieving Akot didn’t however make mention of why the police General was replaced.
