JUBA/KAMPALA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has ordered the organized forces to return a number of cows reportedly stolen by South Sudanese intruders who, according to Ugandan media, invaded an area in Northern Uganda late last month.

On August 27, 2020, fighting took place between South Sudanese and Ugandan citizens in an area along the South Sudan-Ugandan border, according to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces [UPDF].

“We followed the 10 animals through the government of South Sudan and their response was positive,” said Lt. Hassan Ahmed Kato, the UPDF 5th Division spokesperson.

“Mr Ochaya was accompanied by the acting Director of Police, Mr Jon Caesar Irwang, Brig Gen Jimmy Gardet Odongi and Col Santo Loyereng of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLA-IO),” the Ugandan army spokesperson added.

Speaking to Sudans Post from Yei this afternoon, a senior officer of the National Security Service said President Salva Kiir Mayardit asked the security forces along the Uganda-South Sudan border that all the cows taken from there are returned to the Uganda authorities.
