JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a republic decree replacing the country’s Deputy Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services in the Reconstructed Transitional National Government of National Unity (R-TGONU).

The decree read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) relieved Baba Medan Konyi with effect from Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

In a separate Republic Decree, President Salva Kiir appointed Dr. Jacob Korok Mayai Dut as the country’s new Deputy Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services effective today.

The South Sudanese head of state did not give reasons, as per the republican decrees, as to why those changes were to be effected.

Baba Medan was appointed to the position in March last year when the president reconstituted the transitional government of national unity as part of the revitalized peace agreement signed by him and a number of rebel groups in September 2018.
