Kiir urges Western Equatoria State residents to embrace peace, unity

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has urged the people of Western Equatoria State to embrace peace and unity.

JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has urged the people of Western Equatoria State to embrace peace and unity.

President Kiir made this call during his meeting with Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime on Wednesday at State House, J-1 in Juba.

“The Deputy Governor briefed the President about the activities of SPLM in Western Equatoria State. The President assured them of his support and urged them to advocate for peace and unity of the people of Western Equatoria State,” said a statement from the office of the President.

Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime briefed President Kiir about the security situation in the areas.

Baime said the general security situation in the area is relatively stable.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday met with the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Hon. Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime, on the general security and political situation in Western Equatoria State,” said the statement from the office of the President’s Facebook page.

Baime also hailed President Kiir for initiating the construction of a highway connecting Central Equatoria to Western Equatoria State.

He further welcomed the roadmap to extend the peace implementation by 24-months and the graduation of the Necessary Unified Forces.
