JUBA – A lawmaker in the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) has donated all the $15,000 he recently received as part of a medical package from the government to his home-town’s constituency.

Lawmaker Deng Tong Kuol who represents Aweil North County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State in the national parliament said a part of his money has been delivered to floods-affected community back in Aweil North County and the rest of the money to the community body in Juba to buy land.

“I donated 3 million SSP to support people who are affected by the flood in my community of Aweil North County. I also donated 8000 USD to my community here in Juba to buy the community land plot,” he said.

“I donated 800,000 SSP to my SPLM Party in Aweil North to facilitate the registration process of SPLM members,” he added.

The lawmaker who has since received praises on social media for his decision to donate his money to his community he represents said there are a lot of challenges that he said are affecting service delivery and said they should pay the small the get to pay back to the community.

“There are challenges that don’t allow us to deliver the services and if there is something small, we get, then the priority must be those who voted for us. I am not an appointed MP but elected in 2010 to represent constituency Number One in Aweil North County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state,” he added.

“My message to South Sudanese is to be patient because our government is willing to deliver the needed services but there are so many challenges including financial constraints,” he stressed.
