KHARTOUM – An outspoken SPLM-IO member is urging all members of his group, the ‘reformists’, to cease hostile language against other members of the SPLM-IO, saying the only target is South Sudan’s First Vice President and SPLM-IO chairman, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and his close associates.

Former SPLM-IO governor of the defunct Sobat state Duer Tut Duer who has turned a fierce critic of Machar has in several occasions called for Machar’s ouster saying the prominent opposition figure has failed to lead the group accusing him of betraying the cause of the movement.

He told Sudans Post in an exclusive interview that he has requested members of the dissident group, reformist, to stop hostile language against any other SPLM-IO member and focus only on Machar who he accused of failing the movement.

“All SPLM-IO reformists are requested to cease hostile language against ordinary members of the SPLM-IO who are currently in Juba. Our unique target is Riek Machar and his entourage, because they are the only ones who betrayed the spirit of struggle of our fallen heroes and heroines and betrayed the cause of our struggle,” Duer said.

“Others are victims of manipulation and deception by Riek Machar, they will soon be for change of the Chairmanship of the SPLM-IO as well as for restructuring, reorganization and reform of the Movement. Let us be friendly to them,” he said.
